Our History

1970

Super-Dry’s story begins in the early 1970s, when a Montreal engineer developed a breakthrough single-tower desiccant air dryer known as Dry-Aire. Early testing confirmed the system’s exceptional efficiency, proving it to be a highly effective point-of-use solution. The first model, the Dry-Aire “D-1,” soon entered the market, and its success paved the way for the creation of a dedicated manufacturing facility in Montréal, Canada.

1980

One of the company’s top sales representatives, Normand Rayle, played a key role in product development and was an inventor in his own right. His contributions helped advance the Dry-Aire line, leading to the introduction of the “D-2” and “D-3” models. Under his influence, the company expanded its reach by establishing a strong distribution network across the province of Québec.

1990

Normand Rayle later acquired the manufacturing rights to Dry-Aire and founded Universal Compressors Inc. As the company evolved, the Dry-Aire trademark was rebranded as Super-Dry. Under Rayle’s leadership, the product line continued to grow with the introduction of the fourth dryer model (D-4), as well as the ATD Series mobile air dryers. During this period of expansion, Rayle extended the company’s reach beyond Québec and established a strong network of distributors across Canada.

2000

After twelve years of establishing himself as a reliable manufacturer of point-of-use air dryers, Normand Rayle passed away at the young age of 52. At the time, his son Marc was completing his bachelor’s degree in administration at Concordia University. Determined to carry forward his father’s legacy, Marc—at just 24 years old—made the bold decision to purchase the family business and take on the challenge of leading Universal Compressors into its next chapter.

2015 - Now

Marc and his wife Nina later rebranded the company as Super-Dry Systems to reflect its renewed focus and commitment. The business shifted entirely toward manufacturing air dryers, moving away from compressor repair and maintenance to concentrate on delivering reliable, specialized drying solutions. With a vision to recreate their Canadian success in the United States, they began building a growing network of compressor houses—a network that continues to expand today. Their son Jordan is now pursuing studies in marketing at Laval University and excels in football, with the potential to one day compete at the professional level. Who knows what the future holds—perhaps the next chapter of Super-Dry will continue through the next generation, on or off the field.
